Short for digital audio workstation, a DAW is software also known as an audio editor that produces music or other digital audio-based projects. DAWs allow users to create, arrange, and edit multiple layers of audio. Music can be imported from a device, recorded from real instruments or microphones that are plugged into the computer, or created using built-in MIDI (musical instrument digital interface) instruments.
