Request for Comments

Short for Request for Comments, RFCs are notes that started surfacing on April 7, 1969, with the introduction of Host-to-Host and IMP software by Steve Crocker and UCLA. RFC notes contain information about computer communication, network protocols, procedures, programs, etc. Each RFC has a unique number preceded by the letters RFC. If a revision needs to be made to an RFC, a new number must be given to it. An example of is RFC 2070, which is the Internationalization of Hypertext Markup Language.
