EAP may refer to any of the following:

extensible authentication protocol

1. Short for Extensible Authentication Protocol, EAP is defined in RFC 3748 and is a general authentication protocol commonly used with PPP (Point-to-Point Protocol) and wireless networks. EAP can support multiple authentication instruments, such as public key encryption, smart cards, one-time passwords, and certificates.

2. Short for Employee Assistance Program, EAP is a voluntary program that offers free and confidential counseling to employees with personal or work-related problems. See the OPM (Office of Personal Management) site for a tool to help find your agency's EAP administrator.
